LOS ANGELES - Internet giant Google is reportedly considering buying a website streaming video service, Hulu. As the owner of the video sharing site YouTube, Hulu will be a strategic purchase for Google, especially considering the Mountain View-based company did not have a harmonious relationship with the owners of Hulu.
Hulu began to present information of their finance to a number of potential applicants. Even so, it is still too early to know who the strongest candidate of the next upstream owners. Similarly, reported by Yahoo News on Monday (4/7/2011).
The site, launched in 2008 serves streaming television programs from leading TV stations like ABC, Fox and NBC directly to the user's computer or device with Internet connection. For the latter service, users are required to pay a monthly fee.
Besides Google, Hulu also attracted the attention of other large companies such as Yahoo and Microsoft. Not surprisingly, Hulu acquired the potential to add significant revenue and users. Not only that, Hulu also has a number of broadcasting rights such as the famous TV show "Glee", "Modern Family" and the broadcast of "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart".
The two media firms that are behind Hulu, Walt Disney Co.. and News Corp. recently renew the license in order to raise the value of selling the site.
Unfortunately, until now, both Google and Hulu are still reluctant to comment on the news.
