NEW YORK - It's a back step, Microsoft officially became the owner of the Internet telephone company of Skype Technologies. The plan is revealed, Microsoft will announce an official agreement to buy it on this Tuesday (05/10/2011) .
Skype purchase value is estimated at more than 7 billion U.S. dollars. According to the Wall Street Journal Web site, the purchase rate is one of the largest acquisitions by Microsoft in the last 36 years.
Microsoft and Skype are reluctant to respond to news of the acquisition. Both do not want to comment on this fantastic transaction.
Skype was founded in 2003. The company was subsequently bought by eBay Inc. in 2005 for 3.1 billion U.S. dollars. In 2009 eBay sold its shares to Silver Lake, Canada Pension Fund Investment Board, and Andreesen Howoritz worth 1.9 million U.S. dollars in cash and amounted to 125 million U.S. dollars in debt. However, eBay still owns a third of the shares of Skype.
The year 2010 already has owned 124 million Skype users. A total of 8.1 million was paid users. Previously rumored, Skype is also a struggle between Facebook and Google.
