farming in outer space
Beijing: China is also rumored to be landing a plane exploration on the moon for the first time next year. This is part of their long-term plans for a manned landing on the moon. So far it has achieved this feat by the United States.
A new breakthrough made by Chinese astronauts. They will experiment to grow vegetables on the planet Mars and the Moon.
Cited by AFP on Monday (12/10/2012), researchers there have successfully completed the initial pilot plant vegetables. They planted four kinds of vegetables in a cabin measuring 300 meters called the "ecological life support systems".
Through this cabin the astronauts will be able to collect supplies of air, water and food while they conduct space missions. So later they can harvest fresh vegetables. "Ecological life support system" will depend on the plants and algae.
"The astronauts are expected to harvest fresh vegetables for food," said Deng Yibing, a researcher at the Center for Training and Research Astronauts China in Beijing.
For the future, the Chinese astronauts can get fresh vegetables and gardening supplies oxygen to the extra-terrestrial base.
