Roid Robot called Sense-development of engineers and scientists from Japan, was deliberately created in order to reply to embrace human beings who need a warm hug. This robot is suited for therapy for people who require restoration of the soul with a hug.
Created like a store mannequin used to display clothing, Sense Roid has dilengkap with pressure sensors on the body made of silicon. These sensors will detect the motion of his opponent's body, so that it can mimic a hug.
"At first, many people feel shocked and uncomfortable with this cuddle experience. However, they finally began to familiar and comfortable," said Nobuhiro Takahashi of the University of Electro-Communications, such as Innovative dilansi Daily News, Sunday (26/06/2011).
According to him, people often feel uncomfortable when hugged a stranger. However, this awkward feeling lost if the hug is a family member or boyfriend.
"From here we imagine, what it's like if humans could hug myself," he said.
In the future, robots could be used for the adherents of this medical therapy for the elderly who live alone. Unfortunately, there are no plans for sure whether these robots will be mass produced.
