CALIFORNIA - firm In-Stat predicts that approximately 80 million devices with Universal Serial Bus (USB) SuperSpeed (3.0) will be shipped in 2011.

"Mobile phone is an important key to the USB as a whole, and will play an important role in the adoption of SuperSpeed USB. In 2010, the USB attached to more than 1.2 billion mobile phones, which is dominated by high-speed USB," said Brian O 'Rourke , a researcher at In-Stat.
"In addition, the number of USB ports on mobile phones rose to exceed 100 million units. Although the phone with SuperSpeed USB will not slide into the market until late 2013, but the SuperSpeed USB connector is plugged in it will replace the existing USB ports on most phones today," he explained.
As quoted from Xbit Labs, Monday (20/06/2011), In-Stat predicts there will be approximately 80 million devices shipped with SuperSpeed USB in 2011. Earlier in the year 2010 there were approximately 3.5 billion devices with USB ports that have been shipped.
Currently USB 2.0 is still the most popular USB ports, calculated from three-quarters of a device with a USB port that shipped in 2010.
According to In-Stat, many consumers still use USB 2.0 for digital cameras, digital televisions, set up boxes, and others.
